Description
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a 2019 first-person shooter video game, developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. This game, the sixteenth installment in the Call of Duty series, serves as a reboot of the Modern Warfare sub-series and was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Set in a realistic and modern environment, the narrative follows a CIA officer and British SAS forces allied with rebels from the fictional Republic of Urzikstan, fighting against Russian Armed Forces and the terrorist group Al-Qatala. The game features a single-player campaign, a cooperative Special Ops mode continuing the campaign's narrative, and a reworked multiplayer mode supporting cross-platform play. It introduced a new engine for enhanced graphics, including ray-tracing, and for the first time in the series, it supports cross-platform progression. The game was acclaimed for its gameplay, campaign, and graphics but faced criticism for its depiction of the Russian military and multiplayer balance issues. By September 2020, it had sold over 30 million units, and a sequel titled Modern Warfare II was released in 2022.
