Description
Call of Duty: Warzone is a free-to-play battle royale game developed by Raven Software and Infinity Ward, published by Activision. It was released on March 10, 2020, as part of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and connected to subsequent Call of Duty titles. Warzone allows up to 150 players to engage in online multiplayer combat with cross-platform play and progression. The game features two main modes, Battle Royale and Plunder, and introduces an in-game currency system used at "Buy Stations" for various purposes, including custom loadouts and killstreaks. It initially had Trios mode but later added Solos, Duos, and Quads. Warzone received positive reviews and quickly gained a massive player base, with over 100 million downloads by April 2021. A sequel, Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, was released in November 2022, and a mobile version is in development. However, the original Warzone servers were shut down in September 2023 to focus on the sequel. The game distinguishes itself from previous Call of Duty titles by emphasizing the use of in-game currency (Cash) over gadgets and supports larger player counts, with matches accommodating up to 150 players.
